When searching for barcode scanning solutions for asset management such as sign inventory & maintenance, you will not find much available out there.  As we have had several clients requesting this, Cloudpoint set out to find a good solution for incorporating barcodes with the use of mobile devices instead of bulky laptops and heavy reader equipment.  By tagging your traffic signs with a simple barcode (costing less than $0.50) you can quickly speed up the workflow for your maintenance personnel to collect and edit your sign inventory data in real time.

Cloudpoint was also contacted by Metalcraft, a barcode distributor, looking for a good inventory solution for sign management that can take advantage of this simple but user-friendly technology.  As a result of these requests, we have developed a web-based application called SignOps that makes this workflow easy, intuitive, and streamlined.

SignOps uses the mobile device's camera and a third party barcode scanning app called Pic2Shop (Pro) to read the barcodes and input that information into the application.

The whole process works surprisingly fast, reliable, and can read a variety of barcode languages.  For more information on SignOps and how you can use this new technology please contact us at 877-377-8124 or email Jon at jhodel@cloudpointgeo.com.
