As we continue to expand into the Campus GIS space, gaining clients and growing our service offerings along the way, the need arose for a knowledgeable, people-driven GIS expert to join our team and lead our campus facilities projects. We are excited to have found Steve Bowley!
Steve’s background in GIS, field surveys, facility mapping, and project management provides a broad skillset to help our customers develop innovative solutions for creating digital representations of built environments.
Steve has a master's degree in Geographic Information Science and professional graduate qualifications in data science. His core skills include integrating GIS, CAD, BIM, and Asset Information data, and leveraging Enterprise GIS, FME, and Python to deliver custom solutions and services to customers.
He started his career conducting field surveys of flood defense assets, working with environmental scientists to model and predict flood events. This provided a practical way to apply geographic skills to understand and solve real-world challenges, which has been the main motivating factor of his career ever since.
Steve previously managed a geospatial support center for the U.S. military in Germany. This experience provided him with leadership and strategic expertise, and an ability to support critical missions and operations. Steve aims to continue to apply these experiences to solve complex real-world problems and make meaningful contributions across a variety of sectors and industries.
Since graduating from college, Steve has lived and worked in 6 different countries, and visited 31 countries and 20 US States (and counting!) along the way. He is originally from the United Kingdom but has made the Midwest his home. Steve and his partner Bethany reside in Indiana with their 4-year-old son.
In his free time, Steve enjoys running (completing the Chicago marathon twice for charity), cycling, and snowboarding when he gets the chance.
We are very excited to welcome Steve to the team and are eager to see what we will accomplish with his contributions.
